John Lennon, who according to the existing rock calendar entered immortality 12 years and 2 days before Karlo Metikos, said in one of his last interviews that all the valuable results of the art that delivered them both are necessarily and by its definition - labors of love. When on the evening of the first anniversary of Karlo's death, on December 9, 1992, the foggy curtain came down, after the last drops of the tribute called "The rhythm of the rain", we were all brightened up by the belief that we participated in an event that occurred exactly as the labor of love: the organizers, the participants and the audience of this concert-tribute to the colorful individual, friend and a musician.

The preparations, encouraged by Josipa, began in an illusion of the total mayhem. One had to assemble the gallery of very diverse artists, in a way that some of them were not even born at the time when the others already became stars; three or four generations of musical fathers and sons, all of whom enjoyed the single privilege that they present the songs, which Matt Collins tied to his person as the embryonic promoter of the rock and roll and as Karlo Metikos in his later incarnation as the pop composer, according to their own personal notion about the reason of their existence. To put this original idea into practice, so it seemed to me before the rehearsals, meant nothing else but uncertainty, since to carry out this so called "Karlofest" on the level of the myth about the man because of whom we all got down to our joint goal meant to face not only the usual overweight problems of the technical nature, but also the realization that Metikos and Collins did everything in the first person of singular during their lifetime.

However, it soon became apparent just how much Karlo's name has become adopted as the collective one, and also as the unconsciously agreed trademark. The unrestrained enthusiasm that led him into all those new adventures and created him unique quickly carried itself onto his fellow musicians and encouraged them for this homage from the other side of the conventional prostration to that omnipresent shadow of Metikos. "We shall make "The rhythm of the rain" in a way Karlo would be proud of!" said the only article of the unsigned agreement of the 50 artists directly involved with the "Karlofest" project.
